About Lewis Music Academy:
Cheryl Lewis began teaching piano out of her private studio in 1980 while working on her Bachelor’s degree in Music. She quickly realized that God had gifted her with a love of music and a passion for teaching children. In 1990 Cheryl began group instruction for piano and quickly realized that her students loved it! Forming special groups (which at the time included her two young sons Jason and Jayme along with their friends), Cheryl realized that working with small groups of children made the lesson time more fun and exciting, adding a social and interactive element for her students. It wasn’t long before Cheryl began creating her own method books in order to teach her own sons to love music. 29 years later, Cheryl Lewis is thrilled to have her two sons, Jason Lewis and Jayme Lewis (both with Bachelors of Music Degrees from CSUN) at her side as professional collegues, teachers, and co owners of Lewis Music Academy Inc. As you watch this unique musical family share their gifts and talents with children of all ages, it is obvious that the gifts that God has given to Cheryl, were also given to her sons. It is sheer enjoyment to watch this family as they work together to teach children to love and appreciate music.
Since it’s earliest beginnings in 1980, the Lewis Music Academy has grown to be a fun filled music studio, offering private or group instruction on piano, bass, guitar, voice, drums, and composition. This family believes that the most important element of musical instruction is to teach children to love music first. The Lewis Family believes that children should have fun while making music and they strive to help students gain a sense of pride and self confidence as they learn how to read and understand musical notation.
